And incidentally, Heinzel glühwein, in both its red and white flavours, is available not only in the home town of the Heinzelmännchen themselves, but also from many special stockists throughout Germany. 

One of the most special features of the market are the traditional-style taverns with their distinctive architecture. These are the perfect place for visitors to the market to get together and enjoy the cheery Advent season and Cologne hospitality in congenial company.

The taverns on Alter Markt and Heumarkt are the perfect place for friends and acquaintances, locals and tourists, groups and singles to meet and have a good time in the evening.

But what would be a good time without music? To get people in the mood, there is regular live music at the various sites – from seasonal jazz to classical Christmas carols. The "glowing" hearts in the great trees have doubtless witnessed many declarations of love being whispered into willing ears below; but not just lovers, the warm and welcoming atmosphere of our Christmas market also attracts many Christmas parties to Cologne’s Old Town.
